The Bob's Burgers Movie utilizes certain characters very well, giving them a chance to shine in a variety of comedic circumstances.

One of the best things about the Bob’s Burgers cartoon is its colorful cast of characters. The music is also an iconic part of the show. The Bob's Burgers Movie highlights some of the classic characters like Rudy, Mr. Frond, Mort, and many others. They take a backseat to the overall plot of the movie though.

That is one of the film’s downfalls but only a minor point. So, who among the cast of this classic cartoon does get more screen time alongside Bob and his family in The Bob's Burgers Movie? These following characters have a chance to shine, sometimes in pretty surprising ways.

Teddy is a very needy character in the series. He is always trying to shove his way into Bob’s business. The same is true for The Bob’s Burgers Movie as Teddy builds Bob a burger cart. Instead of being satisfied with that accomplishment, Teddy volunteers to be the waiter while Linda dances around in Gene’s burger costume. Calling him a waiter is a stretch since customers can just tell Bob what they want directly. At least he’s trying.

Sergeant Bosco pops up now and again whenever the plot centers around some kind of crime. Bosco is part of the robbery division but it’s plain to tell that he wants to be something more throughout the series like a crime detective. Louise, Gene, and Tina meet Bosco in The Bob’s Burgers Movie while he is on a stakeout.

Since he is part of the robbery division, he can’t help the kids out with their murder mystery. Louise still has some pity for Bosco so she tips him off in the finale to get credit before the crime division shows up. He has a small arc in the movie but it’s a fun one.

Felix and Calvin Fischoeder are kind of a package deal. Calvin is a more pronounced character in the series as he is the landlord of Bob’s restaurant. He has a more subdued role in The Bob’s Burgers Movie though since he is arrested early, giving Felix more airtime.

Felix’s desperation for power and love have always been a fun part of his character in the show. That’s more apparent in the movie as he tries to hook up with Fanny again having recently gotten out of jail. She tried to kill the Fischoeders and Belchers in an early season. Felix doesn’t seem to care though.

Bob and Linda Belcher are also like a package deal. Bob has more of an arc than Linda, which is why he gets the top choice. He’s always afraid of losing his business. All he wants is to cook burgers to make people happy and to provide for his family.

Things keep getting in his way in the series and it gets even zanier in The Bob’s Burgers Movie. The bank is going to close their loan and a giant sinkhole opens up in front of the restaurant. Some of Bob’s best lines in the movie are just him groaning or saying “oh no” on repeat.

Tina begins the series obsessed with Jimmy Pesto Jr. She soon realizes that Jimmy is kind of a dork that doesn’t want or deserve her attention. However, she still has some reserved feelings for him which bubble up in The Bob’s Burgers Movie.

She wants to have Jimmy be her summer fling but then another part remembers how lame he can be. Her back and forth fantasies are some of the funniest parts of the movie. This includes a scene where zombies ride past on a horse.

Gene has wanted to do two things in the series. He wants to be a comedian and he also wants to be a musician. One of his musical ventures had him form the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee in an earlier season.

Gene wants to reform the band again in the movie so that they can play at the wharf. Is he good enough? He has to get over his self-confidence bump and realize that his musical inventions are indeed unique and worth listening to.

Grover is a cousin to the Fischoeder brothers of Calvin and Felix. He is also their lawyer. At first, it seems like he is an abused cousin who Felix and Calvin don’t like very much. That part is true. The surprising part is that Grover is the one that killed the Carny six years ago. He is the criminal.

He would have framed or killed his cousins at that point as well, but a construction worker messed up his plans. They don’t make a lot of sense in the end, but it’s still easy to sympathize with Grover’s plight on some level.

Louise is essentially the star of The Bob’s Burgers Movie. Everyone has an arc in the film but most of it revolves around Louise kicking things into gear. She gets made fun of in school because of her hat. This makes her go into the sinkhole wherein she discovers a dead body.

She drags her siblings along the mystery tour to solve this murder and to make sure she can be called a baby no longer. In the end, she learns a valuable lesson and grows along the way. The true origins of her hat are also uncovered, which was a big mystery to the fans who only got a taste in an early season.
